Runs of homozygosity from different goat genotypes in Kenya

چکیده
There is limited genetic information available in most African goat populations. However, improvements genomic technologies have enabled easy and effective analysis of different parameters. This study used Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) data four genotypes from Kenya; Galla (n = 12), Alpine 28), Saanen 24) Toggenburger 30). After SNP quality control, 48808 SNPs that were for analysis. Runs homozygosities (ROHs) detected to analyse the distribution inbreeding coefficients. Across genotypes, 348 ROHs with highest number observed lowest Galla. described recent Alpine. The mean sum ROH was on long category (>16 Mb) which a negative effect animals performance. Distribution per chromosome breed-specific without clear pattern across genotype. Furthermore, 32 regions high frequency detected. Sixteen genes (missense synonymous) identified determine their effects animal High coefficient values all exotic suggesting continuous use few breeding bucks. Toggenburg found be inbred genotype 0.68 compared other genotypes. To maintain improve diversity Kenya, these findings will useful strategic implementation improvement conservation programs ensure continual contribution food security.

Runs of homozygosity in European populations.
Estimating individual genome-wide autozygosity is important both in the identification of recessive disease variants via homozygosity mapping and in the investigation of the effects of genome-wide homozygosity on traits of biomedical importance. Approaches have tended to involve either single-point estimates or rather complex multipoint methods of inferring individual autozygosity, all on the b...

OBJECTIVES Recent studies have highlighted the potential of analyses of genomic sharing to produce insight into the demographic processes affecting human populations. We study runs of homozygosity (ROH) in 18 Jewish populations, examining these groups in relation to 123 non-Jewish populations sampled worldwide. METHODS By sorting ROH into 3 length classes (short, intermediate, and long), we e...
متن کاملGenomic Runs of Homozygosity Record Population History and Consanguinity
The human genome is characterised by many runs of homozygous genotypes, where identical haplotypes were inherited from each parent. The length of each run is determined partly by the number of generations since the common ancestor: offspring of cousin marriages have long runs of homozygosity (ROH), while the numerous shorter tracts relate to shared ancestry tens and hundreds of generations ago....
متن کاملRuns of Homozygosity Implicate Autozygosity as a Schizophrenia Risk Factor
Autozygosity occurs when two chromosomal segments that are identical from a common ancestor are inherited from each parent. This occurs at high rates in the offspring of mates who are closely related (inbreeding), but also occurs at lower levels among the offspring of distantly related mates. Here, we use runs of homozygosity in genome-wide SNP data to estimate the proportion of the autosome th...
متن کاملRuns of Homozygosity Do Not Influence Survival to Old Age
Runs of homozygosity (ROH) are extended tracts of adjacent homozygous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that are more common in unrelated individuals than previously thought. It has been proposed that estimating ROH on a genome-wide level, by making use of the genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) data, will enable to indentify recessive variants underlying complex traits. Here,...
